Black Belt Gradings April 2008

Congratulations to students of West Midlands Tae Kwon Do schools who were successful in their black belt gradings this April. The prestigious Gradings are more advanced and challenging than coloured belt gradings and passed only by the elite. Students are marked on more complex techniques, patterns, sparring skills and their theoretical knowledge plus students completing a second Dan grading must also break wood with a selection of hand and foot techniques. Black Belt gradings are very comprehensive and require years of training and dedication. The students were honoured to be graded by a panel of 7th Dan Black Belts, the Committee for our organization.

From Bloxwich club, Kelly Ede, newly promoted 2nd Dan Black Belt, has been training for 9 years is a dedicated student of martial arts and aims to join the police. All rounder Natasha Titley, at 17, is completing her A-Levels, part time model and now 1st Degree Black Belt also. Both ladies were really happy with their achievements.

From Kidderminster club, 14 year old Thomas Spooner is one of Kidderminster’s best students and really sets an example to others by not only working hard with his own training, but also by helping others when ever he can. He received our ‘Student of The Year Award” for 2007 because of his outstanding attitude, and hard work which has now been rewarded even more in achieving his black belt

At Dudley Kayleigh Thomas, a 14 year old Dudley student, has been training since she was 11 years old and is thrilled to have achieved her new black belt status. As young as she is Kayleigh takes her training very seriously and always strives to be her best. She has worked hard to be strong in all elements of Tae Kwon Do including theory. Instructors Vince Farquharson and Katie Billingham would like to congratulate successful students on their hard work. The next Black Belt grading will be held in October 2008 and will again see students from the West Midlands Schools persevering in their training towards new heights including a rare third Dan grading.
