TOP MARKS FOR TAE KWON DO

It was smiles all round this weekend as the students of West Midlands Tae Kwon Do Schools aced their grading. There was a 100% pass rate for the 5 clubs, exceeding all expectations for the hard working group. 10 students also achieved Pass-Plus Grades, a higher level of success, and an impressive 7 also gained the highest award possible- A-Pass grades, meaning they excelled in all aspects of their tests. Students are marked on application of techniques, patterns, sparring skills and their theoretical knowledge which means gradings are very comprehensive and require months of training and dedication.

The West Midlands Schools are a group of 5 local branches of the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain, one of the largest martial arts associations in Europe. Schools are currently in Bewdley, Kidderminster, Dudley, Boxwich and Bilston with Hagley, Wombourne, Leominster and Ludlow set to open later in the year. The students were honored to be graded by Master Paul Donnelly, 7th Dan Black Belt, who was impressed by the standard on the day. Instructor Vince Farquaharson, 5th Dan Belt Belt, has been teaching for over 20 years. He told reporters “I’m very proud of all my students. They have worked hard and deserve their awards.”
